CBRN Recovery Exercise Planning / Community Resiliency

I'm a Homeland Security/Homeland Defense (HLS/HLD) Analyst and I'm interested in collaborating with others who are working in my field and establishing some type of open source system for sharing Chem/Bio/Rad/Nuc (CBRN)exercise planning templates and scenario building tools and data. The basic idea will be to share non-proprietary information that is mutually beneficial. I'm open to ideas for specific kind of information that can/should be shared and am interested to hear others thoughts. Of special interest is the role of community in recovery and community resiliency.

USAID Report on Shelter in Haiti

Document from USAID on its "Approach to Shelter in Post‐Earthquake Haiti:
Providing Security, Dignity and Work".

Good overview of the challenges and problems being faced in Haiti with regard to providing shelters.

Shelter in Haiti

Interesting idea for shelters in Haiti, read about what USAID is doing here http://pdf.usaid.gov/pdf_docs/PNADR961.pdf
I have a few concerns about stability, the foundation, and securing it when rains come and winds blow. The description in the article is not very well-explained, but that doesn't mean it won't work. CrisisMappers hosting webcast of 3D GeoTime Analysis of Ushahidi-Haiti Data

Our friends at The International Network of Crisis Mappers (CM*Net) will be hosting monthly webcasts where members can present projects they're involved in and share perspectives and ideas with other CM*Net members.

This Wednesday at 12:00pm EST, Using the Ushahidi-Haiti response dataset and the USGS earthquake event data, they'll be correlating eathquake and response data from a geo-temporal perspective, using GeoTime's 3D Space-Time Viewer.

Election Monitoring in Afghanistan

See this story at the USAID website about our efforts on integrating map data to help in disaster and development. Thanks much to our partners who participated at CP Roberts, and then made it happen in Afghanistan.

Complex Operations Knowledge Needs Survey

Below is a letter from our friends at Naval Postgraduate School. Link for the survey is at the bottom.

Dear Colleague,

We would like your feedback for a project to develop a Complex Operations Wiki for the community involved in Stability, Security, Transition, and Reconstruction and Irregular Warfare operations. The project is funded by ONR under the OSD Human, Social, Culture and Behavior modeling program. The Complex Operations Wiki is a collaborative project between NPS and Milcord, a knowledge management company specializing in social behavior and geospatial intelligence applications. Other organizations participating in the HSCB program will also publish in the Complex Operations Wiki.

Container Clinics for Homeless Now & Disaster Response Later

I have started a rapidly growing initiative for domestic deployment of our container clinics. I would like to share the concept with you in case you have ideas, interests in collaborations or know other contacts who may wish to become involved. Alone we can each accomplish only so much. Together we can move mountains. Here is a vehicle that can help us accomplish this.

I have already received interest regarding similar deployments in several other cities. The level of interest, the caliber of network and of course the need (both today and tomorrow) make this a winner on multiple levels.
